Two Days to Code Camp–What You Need to Know!

We're two days away from the Winnipeg Code Camp, and we wanted to contact you with some house keeping info!

Where Is It?

At the Red River Princess St. Campus, head to P1-07 (Multi-Purpose Room) which is outside of the Student Services desk. Check out the map here:

What About Food?

We're very thankful for the sponsors that we have this year, but there are less of them than in previous years. Because of this, we won't be offering breakfast or coffee in the morning, so please come pre-caffeinated. We will be offering sandwiches and drinks for lunch though.

Do I Need To Print My Eventbrite Ticket?

No, you don't need to bring your Eventbrite ticket to the code camp.

Will there be wi-fi?

No, we won't have wi-fi available at the code camp.

If you have any questions, please let us know - otherwise we'll see you Saturday for the 5th annual Winnipeg Code Camp!

Thanks,

Announcing Winnpeg Code Camp 2012

If its February and below -35 C with a windchill, you know that its time for the Winnipeg Code Camp! 2012 brings us our fifth code camp and another great day of sharing, learning, and socializing! Here are the event details:

When: Saturday, February 25th 2012
Where: Red River College - Princess Street Campus
Cost: Still free!
Food: Still provided, breakfast and lunch!

So before I tell you where to register, I want to mention a few things.

2012 Code Camp Theme
We want to do a bit of a theme for this year's code camp - The Next Generation

If you look over the last few code camps, or even events like Tech Days and user groups, there's the usual suspects that you'll see present. While Winnipeg definitely has its share of known technical talent, one has to think that there's a new generation of technologists that are ready to start sharing what they know with the community. And by new I'm not meaning younger or relating it to age, but in putting themselves out there and getting involved in the greater tech community.

Call for Speakers
So with that in mind, we want to announce the call for speakers is open! We want to encourage *everyone* to submit sessions for the code camp, but given the text above we especially want to encourage those that are first time speakers or who have had limited opportunities to speak. The Code Camp is a virtually risk-free opportunity to gain experience and feedback for your presentations while at the same time providing value to the attendees.

To submit a talk to the code camp, just send your session title and abstract along with your bio (including a pic of yourself) to

winnipegcodecamp@gmail.com

Call for Sponsors
As with every year, we rely on sponsors to make the event a success. Red River College is very generous in covering the venue costs for our event, but we still need to cover the food and administrative costs. Event sponsorship is only $500.00 and will help ensure that the code camp is a huge success!

If you're interested in sponsorship, please contact us at winnipegcodecamp@gmail.com

How Do I Register?!
To register for the code camp, simply visit our Event Brite site:

You don't need to print your ticket and bring it with you or anything. We use this to gauge numbers for food and to collect contact info so we can send updates on the code camp as they happen.
